He Helped Someone Reach 100K YouTube Subscribers—But Struggled to Build His Own Brand

Sometimes it's easier to help someone else succeed than it is to take your own advice.
That was one of my biggest takeaways from a recent conversation with Avinash Khatri on the Network Marketing Insider Podcast.
Avinash had spent years helping other creators grow on YouTube.
In fact, he shared that he helped one creator go from zero to 100,000 subscribers in just eight months.
That's impressive.
But here's where the conversation became really interesting.
Despite knowing how YouTube worked, understanding content, and helping other people grow their channels, Avinash struggled to build his own personal brand.
I think a lot of people can relate to that.
Knowing What to Do Isn't the Same as Doing It
How many times have you known exactly what you should be doing?
You know you should create the video.
You know you should publish the post.
You know you should reach out to someone.
You know you should start building your personal brand.
But you keep waiting.
Avinash talked about how different it felt when the person he was trying to grow was himself.
When you're helping someone else, you can look at their business objectively.
When it's your own business, suddenly the doubts show up.
Is my content good enough?
What will people think?
Do I sound good on camera?
What if nobody watches?
Avinash even shared that one of his early five-minute videos took him about 12 hours to record.
Think about that.
This is someone who understood YouTube growth.
The problem wasn't knowledge.
The problem was getting himself to take action.
That's something I talk about in The Complete Beginner's Guide to Content Creation.
Your first content isn't supposed to be your best content.
It's supposed to get you started.
Clarity Changed Everything
Eventually, Avinash became much clearer about who he wanted to reach and what kind of content he needed to create.
Then things started moving.
He told me his own channel had recently jumped from around 45 subscribers to approximately 90 in a matter of days.
That's not 100,000.
But that's not the point.
He finally had momentum.
And momentum gives you information.
You start discovering what people respond to.
You learn what topics work.
You become more comfortable on camera.
You start understanding your audience.
Then you can double down on what's working.
That's one reason I'm such a believer in taking action before you have everything figured out.
Your Personal Brand Doesn't Need to Be Perfect
There's another lesson here that matters, especially if you're working a 9-to-5 while trying to build something online.
You don't need to become an influencer.
You don't need thousands of followers.
You don't need an expensive studio.
You don't even need to know exactly where all of this will lead.
Start showing people what you know.
Share what you're learning.
Teach something useful.
Have conversations.
Help people.
Let people get to know you.
I've learned that people don't just connect with businesses.
They connect with people.
That's also why learning How to Build Trust Online Without Being Salesy is so important.
You don't have to pitch everyone who sees your content.
Use your content to start relationships.
Content Can Start the Conversation
This entire podcast episode actually started because of a conversation.
Avinash and I connected.
We exchanged messages.
We decided to jump on a call.
Then I basically said:
Why don't we hit record?
That conversation became a podcast episode.
That podcast episode becomes YouTube content.
It creates Shorts.
It creates social posts.
And now you're reading a blog post created from that same conversation.
That's leverage.
One conversation can continue creating value long after the original call ends.
I've written about this before in Why One Conversation Can Change Your Career.
You never know which conversation might lead to a friendship, collaboration, referral, customer, podcast appearance, business idea or completely new opportunity.
That's why creating content and creating connections work so well together.
Content → Conversations → Relationships → Opportunities → Income
This has become the system I believe in more and more.
Content creates conversations.
Conversations create relationships.
Relationships create opportunities.
And some of those opportunities can eventually create additional income.
That's exactly what we're working on inside Connection Creator Academy.
If you're a teacher or 9-to-5 professional who wants to build something beyond your paycheck without quitting your job, the goal isn't to become internet famous.
It's learning how to use the skills you already have to create more opportunities.

As always, there are no guarantees when it comes to making money online. Results depend on what you learn, what you implement and how consistently you take action.
Listen to the Full Conversation
The biggest thing I don't want you to do is only read my takeaways.
Listen to the actual conversation with Avinash on the Network Marketing Insider Podcast.
You'll hear us talk about YouTube growth, personal branding, organic traffic, podcasting, creating content, building communities and why sometimes the person who knows exactly what to do still has to overcome their own doubts.
And that's probably the biggest lesson.
You don't need to know everything before you start.
Sometimes you already know enough.
You just need to finally do it.
Action Creates Momentum.
Momentum Creates Relationships.
Relationships Create Opportunities.
